Doctor Who is a British sci-fi series with adventures of an alien Time Lord known as The Doctor, who has the responsibility for maintaining peace in the galaxies and fighting away all invading threats. He can move through time and space with a special machine called T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time And Relative Dimension In Space). With its commencement in 2005 with the ninth doctor, the show has seen numerous actors in the role of The Doctor, most recently being Jodie Whittaker, thirteenth and the first female Doctor. The show was a reincarnation of a very old series aired in early 1960s which is why the series started with the ninth Doctor.

Christopher Eccleston, comes as the ninth doctor in the first season accompanied by his companion Rose Tyler played by Billie Piper. The show is set out in an episodic format with a new adventure in every episode. The TARDIS has a vast interior but looks smaller on the outside. It is equipped with a “chameleon circuit” which makes it disguise into any object, but due to some malfunctions The Doctor’s TARDIS remains fixed as a blue British police box.

Whenever the Doctor is close to death, he uses his power as the Time lord to regenerate and move into a new form. This has made the show so endearing throughout the years, with each actor putting his own spin on the character. So although the formula remains the same throughout the series, it always feels fresh and new.

There have been great performances by all the actors from Chistopher Eccleston to Jodie Whittaker. They have successfully portrayed the charisma of every doctor along with his internal struggles. Each actor’s portrayal is unique although they all are playing the same character in his various stages of life. The writers have improved the series with every coming season which binds its audience.

The show is unlike many other sci-fi shows, as the protagonist does not always use fists or guns to disarm foes but charm and quick thinking. This has made the show gain its vast fan base and popularity. This also gives the character a strong appeal and uniqueness.

Interactions between The Doctor and Companion are always witty and humorous giving the series a light-hearted effect amidst all the violence and brain storming. The show is enjoyed by people of all ages creating its own separate fan base. There will be many interesting Doctors with their unique style fighting out the evil ahead!
