Breathe: Into the Shadows is a story of a father set out to save his kidnapped daughter, even if he has to kill people for that.
Avinash Sabarwal (Abhishek Bachchan) is a leading psychiatrist in Delhi who lives happily with his wife Abha (Nithya Menen) and daughter Siya. Abha is an excellent chef in a renowned restaurant. Both of the protagonists are successful in their careers and lead a fulfilled life, until one day Siya gets kidnapped. Even after a lot of searching and police complaints they were not able to find her. Abhishek Bachchan has made a debut in the OTT platform with this series and has done a commendable job.
Inspector Kabir Sawant (Amit Sadh) handles the case of the killings which Avinash and his wife perform in order to keep their daughter alive. On top of that Avinash also helps Kabir in solving the cases, and frequently tampers with the evidence to not let suspicion come on him. Amit Sadh has performed well as a fearless cop. The sound score used in the series is perfect for the setting of a suspense thriller, which will remain in your mind even after the end.
Each of the episodes is written and directed in such a way that it will compel you to binge-watch until the end. The story and characters make you stay till the end and also remain with you after that. The story also has a mythological feel to it and has many references of Ramayana. Breathe: Into the Shadows has elements of well-researched mental health issues and the suspense would make you sit through the entire series and leave you awestruck.
“Psychiatrist hu.. aur ek Psychiatrist se better mind games kon samaj sakta hai?”
The various references to Ravana and the various vices a human has, which make him weak are some of the elements in the series which make it a must-watch.
“Hamare to bas ek sir me saare emotions hote hai, lekin Ravana ke paas har emotion ke liye ek sir tha”
The emotions brought out by Abhishek as a father who has to kill the people in order to save his daughter seems believable and might make your heart weep as well.
“Jab tum mujhe dekhogi Abha… what you’ll see? A father or a murderer?”
